I've brought the painting almost to a conclusion and in that we've done clouds, we've done trees, we've done negative painting, positive and negative trees and now we're going to take some Cobalt Blue and Red Rose Deep mixed to a nice purple, loaded on this nice 1-1/2" brush.

We're going to put in a clump of trees first - a huge mass of trees in the distant background. Then we will come in toward the foreground with some closer trees. In the background we'll keep it cool with a mixture of blues. You can imagine they're individual trees, but we don't want to paint individual trees.
I'd like to show you one or two approaches to clouds. People seem to want to do a lot of different skies and I do, too. They're so easy to do and we're gonna take a couple of minutes - that's about what it takes - because we want to get in there and get out.
Follow along with Joe as he takes a painting all the way through from value study to completion, showing all the tips and techniques along the way, and even a little singing for added emphasis!

The little Rigger brush is one of the most fun brushes, and one of the least expensive brushes you can buy, and it's just so much fun. I'm going to show you some tricks that may help you with the Rigger. I love using it and I think you will, too
Most people think of mixing color in mixing it on the palette and I'm constantly hearing "I'm making mud" or "I'm making a mess." This is a way to let your color mix without mixing it on the palette because we're going to let it mix on the paper. It's so much prettier that way.

today I would like to show you about how to use artist tape. Lots of people use artist tape and some folks tell me that when they do use it, it tends to tear their paper up when they take the tape off.
Today I'd like to show you how to make a color value chart for you to hang on the wall of your studio. So that rather than having the colors in your tube or your palette you can see what they really look like on paper. It's fun, you're going to love it.
Well, it's me again, ol' Joe from Cheap Joe's. Today I'd like to show you how to mix color and allow the color to mix on the paper rather than mixing it on the palette and creating mud. Because I hear so many people say "how can I mix it and keep it clean and pretty without it becoming mud?"
I'd like to show you how I stretch 140 pound watercolor paper. I find that the easiest way in the world to do a watercolor is on stretched paper. So I'd like to take just a couple of minutes and show you how you can do the same thing.
